Season Storyline

The Forbidden Grimoire

It began in Veyra, where the royal archive was kept behind bronze wards and oath-bound scribes. One winter morning, treaties had changed on their own. Borders no longer matched the wars that drew them. Signatures vanished from peace accords. Noble lineages were rewritten as if whole dynasties had been dreams shared by too many witnesses.

Investigators found fragments of ash-gray vellum hidden in reliquaries thought empty for centuries. The pages were warm to the touch and drank ink like open wounds. Every decree inscribed upon them manifested in the world, but never as drafted: a pact became a purge, a blessing became blight, a coronation became succession by fire. The text did not simply grant power. It interpreted intention, then judged it.

Houses now dispatch discreet companies under merchant banners. Guild leaders hire scholars who can read dead scripts and mercenaries who can keep them alive long enough to translate one more line. Monasteries that once forbade steel now arm their novices for road war. In taverns and war rooms alike, one rumor persists: a bound volume travels between fortified vaults, escorted at dusk, moved again before dawn, always one province ahead of those sworn to secure it.

This season is a contest of interpretation as much as force. Every duel you finish, alliance you honor, district you stabilize, and enemy you spare shapes who reaches the next page first. In Mytharais, history is no longer inherited. It is negotiated in real time, and the Grimoire records the cost in your name.
